Karen van Oostrum was formerly Head of Education at Cambridge University Botanic Garden and today works as a freelance botanist and educator. Her talk begins by exploring the co-evolution of plants and insects, providing context for the remarkable diversity of floral forms we see today. She will then discuss some of the extraordinary relationships between highly adapted flowers and their pollinators to give a deeper understanding of the vital role pollinating insects play in our ecosystems. She will also explain the challenges pollinators currently face and give some practical advice on how to support them in your garden. |
The talk is followed by refreshments and a raffle.
